The Interactive
Feelings Wheel.
Sometimes “I feel bad” is true—but not specific enough to tell you what you need.
The feelings wheel helps you move from a broad emotional family toward more precise language. Naming an emotion does not make it a fact or an instruction. It gives you information. Once you can identify what is present, you can become curious about the message underneath it and choose a response more intentionally.
How to use it
You do not need to find the “perfect” word.
- 01Begin broadly.
Notice which core feeling is closest to your experience right now. You can start from the centre or simply click whatever word catches your attention.
- 02Get more specific.
Move outward through the emotional pathway. Notice which words create recognition in your body rather than trying to reason your way to the correct answer.
- 03Listen for the message.
Read the definition, possible message and suggested action. Treat them as prompts for inquiry—not rules about what your feeling must mean.
- 04Choose your response.
Ask: “What would support me now?” Sometimes that is action. Sometimes it is a boundary, rest, expression, connection, or simply allowing the feeling to be felt.
Click any feeling to explore it.
A note on using this resource: emotions are complex and context matters. This wheel is designed as a reflective tool, not a diagnostic assessment. You are always allowed to disagree with a definition, notice several feelings at once, or discover that a different word fits better.
